M’sia Scouts Commit to Youth Development Through Leadership and Character Building

Kuala lumpur: The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) has reiterated its commitment to fostering leadership and character development in the country’s youth, aligning with its strategic objectives to cultivate a competitive younger generation. National Chief Scout Maj Gen Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin highlighted the role of scouting as an informal educational platform that has successfully instilled discipline, leadership, and patriotism for over 117 years. He emphasized the global reach of the scouting network, which includes over 60 million members across 174 countries.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, PPM is currently concentrating on various initiatives designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of young people. These initiatives include 21st-century leadership training, creative and responsive youth empowerment programs, talent enhancement in technology and environment, and efforts to improve governance integrity. The association is also focused on building stronger networks with the government, industries, and media to support these objectives.

During a speech at the PPM dinner with the media, Mohd Zin underscored the vital role of media in amplifying the voices of youth and helping society recognize the importance of scouts in shaping the nation’s future. He acknowledged that media cooperation is crucial for enhancing the profile, influence, and sustainability of the scouting movement at a national level.

Mohd Zin also expressed gratitude to media partners for their contribution in ensuring that positive stories about scouts continue to inspire and that the voices of youth remain prominent. He noted that such media efforts help keep the scouting movement deeply ingrained in the hearts of the people and the nation.

At the event, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) was honored with the Excellent Media Coverage Award. The award was presented by Mohd Zin to Bernama News Services Assistant Editor V Sankara Subramaniam, recognizing the agency’s outstanding contribution to promoting the scouting movement in Malaysia.
