M’sia Games Festival For Media Practitioners Scheduled For November

Hawana: The Malaysia Games Festival (FPM) is set to take place in early November to promote traditional games and foster cooperation among media practitioners. Editor-in-Chief of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, announced that FPM will be organised by Bernama as the Secretariat of National Journalists Day (HAWANA), with the festival expected to occur in the federal capital. “We hope many media organisations will send teams to participate in the games,” he stated after attending the Malaysia Games Festival@Putrajaya 2025 (FPM@Putrajaya 2025).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the FPM will also include sports events such as football and netball. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil had previously mentioned that the media games will be added to the HAWANA calendar starting this year. He further elaborated that the event will be conducted on a larger scale, involving numerous media practitioners from various states, and will feature traditional games such as carrom and checkers.

HAWANA, first celebrated on April 11, 2018, with Bernama as the implementing agency, aims to recognise the contributions and sacrifices of the media community. It seeks to elevate the professionalism of national journalism and serve as a platform for media professionals to gather and discuss current issues faced by the industry. The date May 29 was designated as HAWANA Day, in conjunction with the publication of the first edition of Utusan Melayu on this day in 1939.
