Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) today announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and Huzairi Zainal Abidin to its Board of Directors, effective May 16 and May 2, respectively.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MRANTI stated that Hasnol, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), brings over three decades of leadership experience in policy development, trade strategy, and institutional transformation. His role involves overseeing the national agenda on science, technology, innovation, and economy (STIE).
Huzairi, representing the Ministry of Finance (MOF), is a senior civil service officer with extensive experience in national economic strategy and public administration. With over 20 years of expertise in fiscal policy, macroeconomic management, public service delivery, and Islamic finance, he is expected to contribute significantly to MRANTI’s strategic oversight.
MRANTI chairman Prof Dr Rofina Yasmin Othman remarked that the appointment marks a transformative chapter for the organization, as they welcome two of Malaysia’s most distinguished leaders to its Board. She emphasized that their strategic foresight and hands-on experience in shaping national policies and economic frameworks will redefine how Malaysia harnesses innovation for global competitiveness.
MRANTI CEO Datuk Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff noted that the inclusion of Hasnol and Huzairi elevates their strategic capabilities at a critical moment. He highlighted their unique blend of policy acumen and economic strategy expertise as a catalyst for intensifying the focus on commercializing cutting-edge technologies.
Hasnol’s career in the civil service began in 1988, and he has held numerous leadership roles across ministries, including as deputy secretary-general (Trade) at MITI and secretary-general of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. His involvement in Malaysia’s structural reforms and economic modernisation agenda positions him as a valuable asset to MRANTI’s Board.
Huzairi, currently serving as deputy director at LAKSANA under the Ministry of Finance, has overseen the implementation of Malaysia’s largest economic stimulus packages. His experience in governance, fiscal management, and stakeholder coordination brings valuable insight into MRANTI’s efforts to drive innovation with integrity and economic prudence.
