Kuala lumpur: The inaugural season of the partnership era in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) has offered key lessons for the league as it seeks to further strengthen the country's esports ecosystem. Head of Esports Business Development Malaysia at Moonton Games, Krystal Tan, stated that the biggest takeaway from the new structure was learning how to work collectively with all eight partnered teams to raise the profile of MPL MY and Malaysian esports at home and abroad.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the partnership programme was introduced to create a healthier and more stable ecosystem while ensuring long-term consistency in the local competitive gaming scene. Krystal Tan emphasized that the main learning experience involved collaborating with the eight teams to showcase the best of Malaysia, MPL MY, and the country's esports to both local and international audiences. She noted that all eight teams have been fully invested in this partnership programme.
Krystal highlighted that teams are still adjusting to the new partnership structure, particularly the double round-robin format, which has intensified competition. She also mentioned that teams acknowledged the league operator's investment in production quality, venue setup, and promotional efforts to enhance the visibility of participating organisations. The focus is on building all eight teams, emphasizing the importance of collective strength in the ecosystem.
On the upcoming playoffs, Krystal noted that this season is unique as it features all eight partner teams. The CelcomDigi Dream Stage is set to be the ultimate destination where the best team will be crowned champion. Additionally, the event is being expanded into a festival-style experience to attract not only esports fans but also the wider public, marking the first time such a festival will be held at Stadium Juara.
