Putrajaya: The 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) needs to focus on the strategic priorities of the agro-food sector and ensure that its implementation in the field is translated effectively to guarantee the well-being of farmers, breeders, and fishermen. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, in a Facebook post, said the matter was discussed during the visit of Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan at Wisma Tani, Putrajaya today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad emphasized that the MP13, which will be tabled on July 30, must be rooted in the core values of MADANI Malaysia, namely Prosperity, Compassion, and Empowerment. These values should guide every intervention policy to truly benefit the groups that form the backbone of the sector, namely farmers, breeders, and fishermen.
Mohamad stressed the importance of ensuring that MP13 does not remain as a document on paper alone but is translated into actionable strategies in the field. “It must reach the people. We want to see farmers more competitive, farmers more productive, fishermen more protected,” he stated. He described this vision as the face of MADANI Agriculture, aiming for fair, equitable, and sustainable development without leaving anyone behind.
He further highlighted that with close cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Ministry of Finance, significant agricultural reforms could be achieved for the future benefit of the people and the country.
