Motorists Welcome BUDI95 Initiative for Fuel Cost Savings

Sungai dua: The implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, which sets petrol price at RM1.99 per litre with a 300-litre per month eligibility limit, has clearly brought relief to motorists who commute daily.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) staff member, 55-year-old Zuhda Zakaria, expressed that BUDI95 helps ease her monthly expenditure as the petrol subsidy is channelled directly to users. “I purchased RM50 worth of petrol, but the terminal at the kiosk showed RM65.33. So, the subsidy given by the government is RM15.33,” she remarked, highlighting the programme’s benefits for her daily commute from Sungai Dua to the island. She further stated that the 300-litre limit is sufficient for her needs, and she is willing to pay the difference if she exceeds it.

Additionally, 42-year-old Muhammad Hafifi Don shared similar sentiments, noting that BUDI95 provided significant savings for him as well. As someone who commutes daily to Tasek Gelugor to teach new converts, the subsidy allows him to maintain his fuel expenses at RM50 per week while enjoying additional savings. He acknowledged the government’s initiative as beneficial, particularly for those in the lower income group, as it alleviates some financial burdens.

Since midnight, 16 million Malaysians have begun enjoying the benefits of the BUDI95 initiative. The programme offers RON95 petrol at the reduced price of RM1.99 per litre, down from RM2.05, with an individual eligibility cap of 300 litres per month. Initially rolled out in phases, BUDI95 was first available to 300,000 military and police personnel on September 27, before expanding to recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) in the B40 category on Sunday.

The BUDI95 initiative offers a straightforward transaction process, requiring only a valid MyKad or driving licence for automatic eligibility verification. Payments are flexible, allowing for cash, credit or debit card, or e-wallet options, making it accessible to a broad segment of the population.
