Nilai: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident with a lorry at KM277.1 northbound of the North-South Expressway (NSE) yesterday. The incident occurred at 1.15 pm as the motorcyclist and his pillion rider were traveling from Seremban to Nilai to meet a friend.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nilai district police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim stated that initial investigations revealed the motorcyclist lost control while trying to avoid a lorry that had broken down in the emergency lane. This caused the motorcyclist to skid into the far-left lane.
Both the motorcyclist and the pillion rider fell onto the road. The motorcyclist was subsequently struck by another lorry traveling in the same direction, resulting in serious head injuries that led to his death at the scene. The 50-year-old pillion rider sustained injuries to his right hand and received treatment from medical personnel from the Nilai Health Clinic.
Abdul Malik mentioned that the lorry driver involved in the collision could not be identified and was believed to have fled the scene immediately after the accident. The victim’s body was sent to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
