Motorcyclist Collides With Elephant On East-West Highway

Gerik: A motorcyclist was injured in an accident with an elephant at Kilometre 31 of the East-West Highway (Gerik-Jeli) near Tasik Banding, Gerik.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gerik Police chief Supt Abdul Samad Othman reported that the incident occurred at 9 pm when a 36-year-old man riding a Honda RS 150R motorcycle was on his way home. The motorcyclist encountered an elephant standing on the road and attempted to avoid it, but a collision ensued, causing him to fall off the motorcycle. The rider managed to get up and flee the scene.

The police chief stated that the elephant subsequently trashed the motorcycle, which resulted in damage to the vehicle. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries and was treated at Gerik Hospital.

Abdul Samad advised road users to exercise extra caution while traveling along the East-West Highway, as wildlife may be crossing or present on the road.
