Lahad datu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for the Silam state constituency, Datuk Mizma Appehdullah, has announced plans to create more employment opportunities in Silam and Lahad Datu if given the mandate in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election. She emphasized that this initiative is part of the GRS manifesto and aligns with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) policy, which aims to ensure that youths are not left behind in the state’s development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mizma highlighted that the SMJ policy introduced by the state government would attract more foreign investors to open factories, thus offering more jobs to young Sabahans, including those in Lahad Datu. She expressed concern that the lack of job offers forces youngsters to leave Sabah and stressed the importance of retaining the youth in the state.
Mizma also pointed out the need for elected representatives who are committed to boosting the tourism industry in the area, providing economic benefits to the local residents. Furthermore, she has been actively engaging with the youth through various programs to understand and address their issues, which she believes could help divert them from unhealthy activities.
The election is slated for November 29, with early voting set for November 25.
