Mongolia Embarks on New Productivity Master Plan for Economic Growth

Ulaanbaatar: The Government of Mongolia has received the National Productivity Master Plan for Mongolia 2026-2035 at the Deputy Prime Minister's office, located in the Government Palace, Ulaanbaatar, on 26 January 2026. The master plan was officially handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, H.E. Gankhuyag Khassuuri, by Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, Secretary-General of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, the Mongolian Productivity Organization, and the APO.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the master plan outlines a national strategy aimed at bolstering competitiveness and resilience by prioritizing productivity. It emphasizes that without significant reforms, Mongolia's annual GDP growth is predicted to decrease from 6.2% between 2000 and 2024 to 4.2% in the period of 2026-35, and further down to 2.8% from 2036 to 2050. This decline is mainly attributed to a reduction in labor productivity contribution, which is expected to drop from 4.0% to 1.4% over the same durations.
