MOHE Progresses in Taking Over Form Six and Matriculation Programs

Kuala lumpur: The Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) is currently engaged in reviewing pertinent Acts as it prepares to fully assume control over Form Six and matriculation programmes, announced Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, the Minister of Higher Education.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zambry emphasized the necessity of revising existing legislation within the MOHE to incorporate Form Six and matriculation. Historically, these programs have been managed by the Education Ministry, and the transition requires a methodical approach. "It's more towards the need to review from the aspect of existing Acts. For instance, there is an Act in the MOHE today that we need to include Form Six and matriculation," Dr Zambry stated. This statement was made during his attendance at the Jom Masuk Universiti (JMU) Carnival 2026, held to discuss the progress on restructuring pre-university education under his ministry.

In a related development, it was previously declared by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on January 20, that the MOHE would take full responsibility for the pre-university education system, including Form Six and matriculation, from this year. This change officially categorizes students from these programs as tertiary students.
