MOHE Prepared to Assist Malaysian Students in Iran with Local University Placements

Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) is prepared to facilitate the placement of Malaysian students in Iran into local universities if they opt to return to Malaysia. Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir stated that the ministry would assist in enrolling them in Malaysian institutions aligned with their current academic programs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Zambry emphasized the ministry’s commitment to aiding Malaysian citizens, especially during challenging situations. He asserted that it is the duty of the Malaysian government to extend support to its nationals in need. He conveyed these sentiments while addressing reporters at the Paya Besar UMNO Division delegates meeting held at Awangan Palace.

In response to inquiries regarding reports about four Malaysian students in Iran who are hesitant to return, Zambry acknowledged that while assistance has been offered, the decision ultimately rests with the students. “We cannot do anything if they do not wish to come back. However, if they change their minds, we are ready to help,” he noted.

Zambry highlighted the ongoing collaboration between MOHE and the Foreign Ministry to ensure the safety and welfare of Malaysians abroad, especially during crises. It was reported that the Foreign Ministry is in the final stages of facilitating the repatriation of Malaysian citizens and their families from Iran amid the current Israel-Iran conflict.
