MOHE and LMM Set to Hold Dialogue in May, Announces Deputy Minister

Bukit baru: A dialogue session between the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) and Liga Mahasiswa Malaysia (LMM) is anticipated to occur by May at the latest, according to its deputy minister, Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the organization of the dialogue is in its final stages, with preparations underway for a roundtable discussion and periodic open sessions aimed at addressing issues concerning tertiary students. Adam Adli expressed apologies for the delay in organizing the event and assured that by May, a meaningful dialogue session would be conducted, moving beyond a simple 'touch and go' format.

Adam Adli highlighted that the dialogue session would not merely involve receiving and reading memoranda without further action. Instead, it will feature comprehensive discussions among various parties, including university administrators, academics, and students. The deputy minister emphasized the need for all voices to be genuinely heard and for discussions to be accompanied by substantive actions, ensuring that every issue raised receives proper attention, even those critical or opposing the ministry's stand.

He further underscored the importance of agreeing to disagree, advocating for the rights and voices of students to be respected and for their role in the policy-making process to be expanded. Adam Adli noted that this initiative had been planned since his first day in the MADANI Cabinet, aiming to create a platform that empowers tertiary students to act as a force of checks and balances.
