Kuala lumpur: Mohd Marzuki Yasoa' has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (SKM).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the commission announced that Marzuki, with over 26 years of experience in the cooperative movement, is poised to enhance the commission's capacity to navigate the cooperative landscape while improving the competitiveness, professionalism, and governance of the sector.

The commission emphasized that this appointment is a significant step towards reinforcing SKM's leadership, ensuring continuity in its administration, and aligning with its goal to empower the cooperative movement as a contributor to the nation's socioeconomic development. Mohd Marzuki will be responsible for overseeing SKM's management and operations, ensuring the effective, integrity-driven, and impactful implementation of cooperative development policies, strategies, and programs.

Under Marzuki's leadership, SKM will focus on strengthening the cooperative ecosystem through improved governance, capacity building, expansion of business activities, promotion of innovation, and acceleration of digital transformation. As the country's sole regulatory body for the cooperative movement, SKM plans to continue collaborating with the Cooperative Institute of Malaysia (IKMa) on training and human capital development. Additionally, it will work with Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA), which represents the cooperative movement's voice and interests both nationally and internationally.

The commission also aims to enhance strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), other ministries and government agencies, state governments, and stakeholders in the cooperative movement to ensure the sector's growth as a key driver of the national economy.
