Kuala lumpur: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today engaged in bilateral talks with his Russian and Indian counterparts during the second day of the 2026 BRICS Partners' Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss Malaysia-Russia bilateral ties and recent developments in the Middle East. The discussions focused on the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. Mohamad emphasized Malaysia's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Russia across multiple sectors.
In a separate meeting, Mohamad met with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The two leaders deliberated on ways to enhance cooperation within the BRICS framework and discussed Malaysia-India bilateral relations along with various regional and international issues. Both nations reiterated their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation.
The 2026 BRICS Partners' Foreign Ministers' Meeting serves as a platform for ministers and representatives from BRICS member states and partner countries to discuss global geopolitical developments, economic cooperation, and issues impacting the Global South.
