Kuala Lumpur:The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced an upgrade to its Motor Vehicle Driver scheme, now classified as the Skilled Service (H) scheme under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), to improve service quality in its logistics services, including ambulances.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad emphasized the importance of this restructuring to ensure that ambulance drivers are not only skilled but also multi-skilled to adhere to the highest emergency standards for patient safety.
The MOH's logistics services are currently operating with an 86.7 percent staffing fill rate out of 7,687 positions. To prevent service disruptions, existing General Services Assistants who pass competency screening tests will be allowed to perform driving duties at relevant facilities. Additionally, the Driving Competency Test (UKP) for screening new appointments was completed on October 27. The recruitment of highly skilled new drivers is set to begin in phases starting April 2027, in collaboration with the Public Services Commission (SPA).
