Sepang:The Ministry of Health (MOH) has mobilized over 200 healthcare personnel from various disciplines and agencies to ensure optimal medical and health preparedness for the Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad emphasized the significance of these preparations, as the event is expected to attract nearly 150,000 spectators.
Dr. Dzulkefly highlighted the national medical coordination co-led by Malaysia's Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sharifah Fetom Syed Ali, who has played a key role in fostering technical cooperation between Malaysia and Bahrain. Joint training exercises between the medical teams of both countries have been conducted since September 24 to ensure compatibility with international standards.
During his visit to the Sepang International Circuit, Dr. Dzulkefly praised the dedication of rapid response teams, aeromedical evacuation logistics supported by two helicopter assets, and seamless operations at the Circuit Medical Centre. He noted that the strategic operation involves a comprehensive approach, mobilizing personnel to ensure effective care from initial treatment to transfer to referral hospitals.
This collaboration includes the Ministry of Health, the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, the Civil Defence Force, the Royal Malaysian Air Force, and the Royal Malaysia Police, supported by national higher education and medical institutions. Kuala Lumpur Hospital stands ready as the main referral center, alongside other supporting hospitals.
Dr. Dzulkefly expressed his appreciation to all involved in ensuring safety and health throughout the event. The 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain F1 GP race, hosted at Sepang International Circuit, follows an agreement between Formula 1, the FIA, and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.
