Kulai: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is reviewing a report on the impact of a rubber factory fire that affected seven schools in Kulai, Johor, on Feb 24. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that a comprehensive report on the incident has been received, detailing how the fire impacted teaching and learning activities at the schools.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the education minister emphasized that all affected schools are currently conducting home-based teaching and learning (PdPR). The report on the fire's impact will be scrutinized, and appropriate action will be taken. Fadhlina also noted that a detailed assessment would be conducted to identify any damage to school infrastructure, teaching equipment, and student safety.
The schools affected by the fire include SJKC Sengkang, SJKC Kulai Besar, SK Taman Kota Kulai, SK Taman Kota Kulai 2, SMK Taman Kota Kulai, SMK Taman Putri, and Sekolah Agama Taman Kota Kulai. These schools collectively have thousands of students and teachers whose educational routines were disrupted.
Earlier, Ling Tian Soon, Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman, reported that 56 students from SK Taman Kota Kulai and 24 students from SK Taman Kota Kulai 2 experienced mild symptoms due to smoke from the fire, including headaches, cough, eye irritation, and shortness of breath.
