Alor setar: The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) will take full responsibility for the welfare of Putri Qisya Nur Izzat, 12, including monitoring the child’s psycho-emotional level. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has instructed the school to prioritize this aspect following the tragic drowning incident at Sungai Korok last week, which claimed the lives of Putri Qisya’s entire family.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MOE will ensure Putri Qisya’s well-being as long as she is under its care. Fadhlina Sidek mentioned that Putri Qisya has a close relationship with her class teacher, who has been asked to monitor her emotional and welfare needs during her studies. Additionally, Putri Qisya receives regular counseling support from the Social Welfare Department.
Fadhlina emphasized that Putri Qisya has not fully resumed attending school as she is still in the process of emotional recovery and will return to her studies when she feels ready. During a visit, Fadhlina handed over compensation from the Malaysian School Student Takaful Scheme, along with donations from the National Education Foundation and the Kedah State Education Department.
Putri Qisya is the eldest child of Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32, and Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31, who were found dead with their four children in a Proton Iswara car believed to have crashed into a river on July 7. The tragic accident also claimed the lives of Putra Rayyan Nur Izzat, 9, Hawa Adriana Nur Izzat, 8, Annayla Humaira Nur Izzat, 7, and Tuah Haydar, six months.
