Moderate Quake Hits Mindanao

Mindanao: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Mindanao, the Philippines, at 8.49 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the earthquake was centred at coordinates 6.6 degrees north and 123.9 degrees east, with a depth of 20 kilometres. The epicentre was located approximately 82 km southwest of Cotabato City, Philippines.

MetMalaysia confirmed that there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia following the incident.
