The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement today announced that the earthquake was centred at coordinates six degrees South and 102.4 degrees East with a depth of 78 kilometres (km).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the location is situated 239 km southwest of Pagar Alam, Indonesia. However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
