Mobix Labs Expands Into Rare Earths With SPD Acquisition Proposal

Irvine: Mobix Labs Inc has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to acquire Special Project Delivery LLC (SPD), a strategic infrastructure platform dedicated to constructing sovereign United States supply chains for rare earth elements, critical minerals, and energy storage.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the proposed acquisition is poised to enhance Mobix Labs' footprint in the crucial critical minerals sector, which is integral to industries like defense, aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced manufacturing. James Peterson, Mobix Labs Chairman of the Board and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsemi, emphasized the importance of rare earths and critical minerals, describing them as key competitive arenas for the coming decade. He expressed confidence in the strategic timing and capabilities of SPD, noting the significant long-term opportunities this combination could offer to Mobix Labs and its shareholders.

Paul Singarella, Co-Founder and CEO of SPD, highlighted the potential benefits of merging SPD's platform with Mobix Labs, a publicly traded defense and dual-use technology company. He underscored SPD's focus on supporting the aerospace and defense ecosystems through its materials.

Since its inception in 2019, SPD has developed a US critical-minerals and energy platform in line with major federal initiatives aimed at transforming the Western industrial base. The company's operations include the recovery of rare earth elements from underutilized domestic feedstock, such as legacy coal ash, using extraction technologies validated by US defense research partners.

Mobix Labs, headquartered in Irvine, California, is renowned for supplying advanced components and wireless technologies for sectors including aerospace, defense, homeland security, and other high-reliability applications.
