Tok bali: The construction of the RM250 million Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Complex in Tok Bali has entered its final assessment phase and is expected to begin early this year and be completed in 2029.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan MMEA director Capt (M) Erwan Shah Soahdi announced that the complex will include offices, a 200-metre jetty, and quarters. It will be constructed on a 14-hectare strategic location at the estuary of Tok Bali beach. The jetty will accommodate a large MMEA vessel, which is expected to be stationed there for operations in East Coast waters, along with the placement of additional assets.
Erwan Shah emphasized that the complex would enhance operational security levels compared to the existing rented premises that are not designated as restricted areas. He shared these insights with reporters following the Sahabat Maritim Back-To-School programme.
During the event, Erwan Shah and over 20 MMEA personnel spent time with 50 students from underprivileged fishermen's families, assisting them in shopping for school uniforms and supplies, a gesture made possible by the MMEA Welfare Club.
In a separate development, Erwan Shah stated that the MMEA would continue conducting operations and monitoring throughout the northeast monsoon period to ensure the security of national waters.
