PUTRAJAYA: Applications for the 2025 Socioeconomic Development Grant Programme for the Malaysian Indian Community (PPSMI) will open from December 2 to January 5, 2025, as announced by the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) special task force committee chairman, P. Prabakaran. The Batu MP stated the early opening in December is intended to ensure the programme’s commencement in January.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the grant programme will feature several improvements and new areas for the benefit of the Indian community. The initiative includes projects aimed at increasing equity within the Indian community, along with grants for entrepreneurs and small traders. Additionally, new areas such as agriculture and welfare are being introduced, marking a first for the programme. P. Prabakaran shared these updates with Bernama and RTM during the MITRA Deepavali Open House event.

s an earlier statement from MITRA on October 11, announcing the postponement of the 2025 PPSMI applications to allow for necessary improvements. The decision came after engagement sessions with stakeholders across six states.
