Missing Hiker: SAR Updates, Next Steps To Be Discussed In Meeting Tomorrow

Tapah: The status and progress of the search and rescue (SAR) operation for hiker Jaslinda Saludin, 49, who has been missing at Gunung Batu Putih near here since May 24, will be discussed in a meeting tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad stated that the meeting will take place at the Tapah district police headquarters. The focus will be on reviewing the SAR operation's progress over the past ten days and determining the follow-up actions.

Additionally, Sabarodzi highlighted that 13 Orang Asli from Pos Titom, Hulu Jelai, Pahang have volunteered to participate in the search operation at Gunung Rayu. These volunteers are believed to be part of 'Team Pelindung,' an NGO under the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan), which is known for its activities in the surrounding forest.

The Orang Asli group reportedly began their voluntary search efforts four days ago. Jaslinda, who started the Trans Spencer Chapman hike at 2 am on May 23 with 13 others and two Forestry Mountain Guides, along the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route, was last seen on May 24 at 7.30 am. Despite health issues during the hike, she continued to the peak and has been missing since then.
