MISC Names Two New LNG Carriers, Strengthens Partnership With ExxonMobil Unit

Kuala lumpur: MISC Bhd announced the naming of two new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, Seri Dian and Seri Dayang, further strengthening its long-standing partnership with Seariver Maritime LLC (SRM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ExxonMobil. The group said that with the addition of the two vessels, MISC now has four LNG carriers under long-term charter with SRM, reflecting continued confidence in MISC's ability to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the LNG carriers, built by Hanwha Ocean Co Ltd, have a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres each and are equipped with smart and energy-efficient technology, including the Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (ICER) system. The vessels feature an enhanced cargo retention system with a low boil-off rate to improve efficiency and support safer operations.

Zahid Osman, president and chief executive officer of MISC, stated that naming both vessels marks an important step in realising the group's Delivering Progress strategy, driven by disciplined growth and operational excellence in delivering energy safely, reliably, and efficiently. The collaboration with SRM, founded on trust and strong performance, demonstrates how a purposeful partnership enables shared aspirations to become meaningful actions.

The smooth management of this project contributed to achieving two million cumulative work hours without injury as of March 30, 2026, with zero lost-time injuries, demonstrating that prioritising people leads to performance. Currently, MISC's LNG fleet consists of 32 vessels, reinforcing its position as one of the world's leading owners and operators of LNG carriers, recognised for high safety standards, operational excellence, and reliable cargo delivery.

MISC, a company under the Petronas Group, has more than 55 years of experience in the global maritime industry, providing solutions across the maritime-related energy value chain with an extensive international operational footprint.
