Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has implemented two assistance programmes to support persons with disabilities (PwDs) in pursuing higher education. Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir announced the initiatives, which aim to provide comprehensive financial support for PwDs.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programmes include the PwD Financial Aid, which covers tuition fees and provides a living allowance of RM6,200 per year. Additionally, the Special Education Programme is designed for hearing-impaired individuals, allowing them to undertake full-time studies at the Special Skills Certificate level in polytechnics and community colleges.
The announcement was made in response to a query from Rodziah Ismail (PH-Ampang) regarding support measures for PwDs in higher education. The MOHE’s initiatives aim to enhance accessibility and educational opportunities for PwDs, ensuring they receive the necessary support to succeed in their academic endeavors.
