Kuala Lumpur: Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have been urged to investigate and take action against a Facebook user for allegedly making remarks that insulted Prophet Muhammad on the platform. Issuing a stern warning, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said any statement or action touching the sensitivities of other religions would result in firm action.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aaron emphasized that there is no place for religious hatred or provocation in Malaysia. He stated that the government is committed to taking stern action against those attempting to create division or tension between different races and religions.
Aaron highlighted Malaysia’s rich religious and cultural diversity, stressing the importance of respecting and being mindful of religious sensitivities. He warned that insulting any religion could undermine national harmony and unity principles, leading to serious consequences involving public peace and security.
He called on every Malaysian citizen to understand, respect, and accept the country’s diversity. Aaron urged everyone to live in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding to maintain the peace and harmony of Malaysia.
