Lumut: Local defence technology specialist Mindmatics Sdn Bhd is spearheading the digital transformation of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Health Services Division through the implementation of the Centralised Medical Repository System (CENTROMERES) Phase 2. The initiative includes the rollout of the MyZULU Health mobile application, designed to streamline medical appointment management, health tracking, and digital form submissions for armed forces personnel.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mindmatics senior project manager Azman Ahmad stated that the company was deploying its comprehensive Health Information System (HIS) across all five military hospitals nationwide, alongside the MyZULU Health application. 'The application, which can be downloaded via Google Play and the App Store, allows personnel to manage medical appointments, track vital health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar levels, complete digital health forms and questionnaires before visits, and manage their personal profiles from their mobile devices,' he said.
The application was launched by Chief of Defence Forces Gen Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman during the 93rd Malaysian Armed Forces Day celebration at the Lumut Naval Base. Also present was MAF Health Services director-general Lieutenant General Datuk Dr Zulkeffeli Mat Jusoh.
Azman explained that CENTROMERES serves as the core electronic health network for the MAF. He mentioned that Phase 1 established the Military Lifetime Health Record (MLHR) across 116 sites, while Phase 2 focuses on improving operational efficiency at Armed Forces Hospitals (HAT) through the nationwide deployment of HIS and its integration with the MyZULU Health platform. The system is locally designed and developed using local expertise based on the user's requirements and guidance.
The two-year initiative covers Hospital Tuanku Mizan in Kuala Lumpur, 94 HAT Terendak in Melaka, 96 HAT Lumut in Perak, HAT Wilayah Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, and Hospital Tentera Darat Gemas in Negeri Sembilan. The system is also linked directly to national databases, including the Health Ministry and the MAF, while the MLHR system is hosted at PUSPADU and accessible through MAF's existing network infrastructure.
Azman highlighted that the deployment of the HIS package across the five military hospitals aligns with the MAF Health Services Transformation Plan 2017-2050. 'The core focus of the project is to replace outdated paper workflows with an end-to-end clinical and administrative digital package. It integrates Electronic Medical Records, Computerised Physician Order Entry, Laboratory Information Systems, Pharmacy Information Systems, and Radiology capabilities with automated medical supply chain logistics,' he said.
He further added that, backed by dedicated Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) infrastructure, the system feeds real-time command dashboards that link directly with national databases. 'To ensure enterprise-grade reliability and strict patient privacy, HIS undergoes stringent Security Posture Assessment (SPA), which includes full penetration testing in line with industry-recognised frameworks, while strictly adhering to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA 2010) and MINDEF Cyber Security Policies.'
'Combined with MyZULU Health, the digital ecosystem is intended to modernise clinical operations for healthcare providers while giving armed forces personnel access to their personal healthcare services through their mobile devices,' he concluded.
