MIH Megatrends 2025 to Propel Malaysia as a Regional Health Hub

Kuala lumpur: The three-day Malaysia International Health (MIH) Megatrends 2025 Conference, commencing on Tuesday, is set to position Malaysia as a regional health hub, aiming for enhanced health sustainability in the future. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad emphasized that the event, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre under the theme ‘Innovation for a Sustainable Health Future’, will highlight healthcare technology and innovations within the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the conference aspires to elevate Malaysia’s status not only at the regional level but also globally in terms of healthcare. The focus will be on addressing specific challenges within the health sector, such as the non-communicable disease pandemic, the necessity for digitalisation to facilitate various innovations, and issues related to an ageing society.

MIH Megatrends 2025 is set for November 25 and is organized in strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and KPJ Healthcare Bhd, underscoring Malaysia’s strategic direction as the ASEAN Chairmanship 2025. The event will gather global thought leaders, healthcare policymakers, doctors, innovators, and industry experts to exchange ideas and explore scalable solutions in areas like value-based care, artificial intelligence, mental health, and sustainability in healthcare.

Dzulkefly also noted that Malaysia will face significant health challenges, particularly chronic diseases, if the health system remains unimproved, given that 15 per cent of the population will be aged 60 and above by 2030. He highlighted that the ageing population presents various health implications and stressed the importance of preparing individuals to be healthy at a younger age to ensure better health in their later years.
