MIC’s Decision to Stay in Barisan Nasional Reflects Political Loyalty and Maturity – Zambry

Kuala lumpur: The decision by the MIC Central Working Committee (CWC) to remain part of Barisan Nasional (BN) is described as a manifestation of political loyalty and maturity, according to Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, the BN secretary-general. He emphasized that this decision is not merely a reflection of current political dynamics but is deeply rooted in the coalition's historical ties dating back to the Perikatan era (1955-1973), which further strengthened under BN since 1974. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry highlighted that over the decades, the coalition has faced numerous challenges, including racial tensions, political pressures, and shifts in the national landscape. However, it has endured due to being built on trust, loyalty, and shared responsibility. He noted that the MIC's decision to stay in BN is grounded in rational considerations, such as the need for stability and continuity, multiracial cooperation, the capacity for renewal, and a rejection of divisive politics. Zambry pointed out that in an increasingly fragmented and uncertain political climate, the public requires a stable and experienced platform. He asserted that BN has shown its ability to govern inclusively and pragmatically, maintaining its relevance. In Malaysia's plural society, BN is more than a political coalition; it serves as a model of inter-ethnic cooperation that has stood the test of time, which is vital for preserving social harmony. Furthermore, Zambry stressed that despite facing various challenges, BN is not static. It is undergoing restructuring, strengthening its organization, and renewing its approach to better respond to current public expectations. He remarked that in a climate where efforts exist to fracture unity, MIC's decision underscores that the principles of togetherness and solidarity cannot be sacrificed for short-term interests. Zambry concluded by stating that efforts to consolidate BN will continue as long as unity is upheld with sincerity. Any attempts to weaken or divide the coalition can be addressed with resilience and internal strength. Ultimately, this decision is about ensuring that politics grounded in unity, moderation, and responsibility continues to play an important role in building a more stable and prosperous Malaysia.
