Miri: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) will carry out testing of the Malaysian Tsunami Early Warning System (SAATNM) sirens at two locations tomorrow. MetMalaysia, through a post on the X platform today, announced that the testing locations are at Miri Central Park, Miri, in Sarawak, from 9 am to 11 am and Pantai Genting, Tumpat, in Kelantan, from 10 am to noon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the purpose of the tests is to evaluate the new tsunami siren system for the implementation of the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) at these locations. MetMalaysia has advised the public, particularly residents in the surrounding areas, not to panic upon hearing the sirens, as it is only a test.
