MetMalaysia Issues Nationwide Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain Warning


Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain accompanied by strong winds across all states, effective until 5 pm today.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, the weather conditions are expected to affect the entire states of Perlis, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.



The warning extends to specific areas in Kedah, including Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu. In Perak, affected areas include Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Muallim.



In Kelantan, the regions of Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang are forecasted to experience similar weather. Terengganu’s affected areas are Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman. Pahang will see the weather impact in Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan, and Rompin.



The forecast also highlights regions in Selangor such as Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang, along with Johor areas like Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, and Kota Tinggi.



In Sarawak, Kapit (Kapit), Bintulu, and Miri (Subis) are expected to experience these weather conditions. In Sabah, the warning covers interior areas of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, and Nabawan, as well as the West Coast areas including Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud. The Tawau region, including Tawau and Lahad Datu, and Sandakan areas such as Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan, along with Kudat, are also included in the forecast, as stated in the announcement.
