Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has denied claims that it has issued any applications or offers related to the procurement of work, supplies, or services via social media applications.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MetMalaysia has expressed serious concerns after receiving complaints about scam attempts by individuals impersonating department officials to offer fake procurement deals. In an official statement, MetMalaysia clarified that they have never used social media apps such as WhatsApp or Telegram, or any emails other than those officially linked with the department, to issue such offers.

In response to these fraudulent activities, MetMalaysia has filed a police report and urges anyone who may have fallen victim or received suspicious requests to report the incident to authorities to aid investigations. The department emphasized that all procurement transactions are conducted exclusively through the ePerolehan system, adhering strictly to government procurement procedures and regulations.

They further advised the public, companies, and suppliers to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of any offers or applications claiming association with MetMalaysia.
