Mesra Run 2.0 Sees Increased Participation at Terengganu Sports Day

Kemasik:About 2,000 participants joined the Mesra Run 2.0 event, held in conjunction with the Terengganu-level National Sports Day (HSN) 2026 celebrations, doubling the number recorded last year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mesra Mall general manager Aziam Muhammad highlighted that the second edition of the event featured a 10-kilometre run, a 5 km fun run, and a 3 km MADANI leisurely walk. This marks an expansion from the previous year, which only included a 5 km fun run with around 1,000 participants.

The event was officiated by State Federal Development Director Datuk Abdul Kahar Abdul Latif, while Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd chief executive officer and executive director Francis Tan, along with the company's human resources general manager Rose Haniff, presented prizes to the winners.

Aziam expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the support from participants, supporters, and the Terengganu Youth and Sports Department. She noted that the run is part of a mental health awareness campaign, promoting physical health as crucial for mental well-being and aligning with Mesra Mall's vision as a community hub for leisure and recreation.

This year, 14 additional sporting events are included in Mesra Run to promote an active lifestyle. Mesra Mall offers sports and recreational facilities such as a futsal court, 12 badminton courts, and areas for chess, drone, and archery activities. The mall spans about 233,000 square feet and features 54 outlets, including a supermarket and fashion stores.

In his speech, Abdul Kahar emphasized the event's goal to encourage sports and fitness as part of daily life, aligning with the HSN 2026 theme, "Sports and Artificial Intelligence Technology," which promotes inclusive public participation, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
