Kuala lumpur: The Melaka state government plans to require every government department and agency in the state to submit at least one Bureaucratic Red Tape Reform (RKB) project for competition from next year to further strengthen public service delivery. Melaka State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh announced this initiative, aiming to embed public service reform as a continuous improvement culture within organizations, rather than just a project or slogan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Salhah emphasized the importance of strong commitment from all parties to support the state's economic growth, which saw a 3.0 percent increase in 2025, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of RM50.3 billion and approved investments totaling RM14.68 billion. The integration of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), into RKB projects is seen as essential for reducing bureaucracy and expediting approval processes, benefiting both the public and the business community.

Salhah expressed her hope that at least 10 of the 20 AI-based RKB projects participating in this year's convention would receive national-level recognition from the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) or the Public Service Department (JPA). She noted that last year, four projects received KSN recognition and aims for at least half of this year's projects to achieve similar acclaim.

The convention, organized in collaboration with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), showcased 20 AI-based RKB projects from 14 departments and agencies. Main award recipients included the Jasin Municipal Council (MPJ), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), and the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG). Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah, MPC's deputy director-general, was also present at the event.
