Melaka: The Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) concept is gaining wider acceptance since its introduction last year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. He noted this growing acceptance was evident from the turnout of approximately 30,000 visitors at a Hari Raya open house he hosted in Masjid Tanah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Melaka Sayang Rakyat initiative aims to unite the people of Melaka by fostering harmony and unity among all races through communal events like the open house. He highlighted that the event successfully brought together Malays, Chinese, and Indians to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri as a shared occasion.

The open house featured a wide array of dishes such as satay, lemang, asam pedas, roasted lamb, and roti canai. Guests were also treated to entertainment by renowned artistes, including National Songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Chakra Khan, and Datuk Seri Rossa. The event was also graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
