Melaka: The Melaka state government has successfully saved RM13.5 million annually through the implementation of the Bureaucratic Red Tape Reform (RKB), which has streamlined government processes and enhanced the effectiveness of service delivery to the residents. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized the need for the RKB to manifest in tangible changes, promoting simpler processes and faster decision-making to reinforce public confidence in the government's delivery system.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ab Rauf stressed that every existing process and procedure should be reviewed and continuously improved to eliminate procedural excuses and unjustified delays. He conveyed this message during the 2026 New Year's Address Ceremony at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Ayer Keroh, attended by Melaka State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Ibrahim Durum and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad.
One of the RKB projects in Melaka is a collaboration between the Melaka Land and Mines Office (PTG) and local authorities to enhance administrative operations and service delivery. This initiative includes the improvement of the Second Edition Development Proposal Report Manual and Melaka State Amendment by PTG Melaka, in conjunction with PLANMalaysia@Melaka, which has reduced the land acquisition period from 36 months to just six months through integrated and simultaneous technical reviews.
Additionally, Ab Rauf highlighted the notable progress in Melaka's education sector, with 118 schools recognized as Inspirational Schools for their excellent performance this year, compared to only one school the previous year. He pointed out the absence of focus schools in the School Reform Criteria, indicating no schools required intensive monitoring from the Ministry of Education, showcasing the state's educational success.
Furthermore, Ab Rauf noted that the Melaka Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA) recorded 17,393 public complaints, with 16,039 or 92 percent successfully resolved in 2025. The remaining 1,354 complaints are being actively monitored by relevant agencies. He urged all departments and agencies to be responsive and proactive in addressing complaints promptly, ensuring no recurrent issues.
