Kuala lumpur: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Melaka plans to announce its candidates for the upcoming state election earlier to give its new faces sufficient time to be fully prepared before facing voters. Acting chairman of the Melaka PKR Leadership Council Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the candidate selection process is undergoing several stages of screening, starting at the branch and state levels, before being submitted to the central level to be finalised by the party president. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adam Adli highlighted the party's historical challenges in announcing candidates early due to various factors, emphasizing the importance of preparing early this time, especially as they aim to introduce many new faces. He noted the need for a balance of voices between women and young people, which necessitates thorough preparation of candidates in advance. He also mentioned that Melaka PKR would strengthen its election machinery through a series of launches in Tangga Batu, Hang Tuah Jaya, Alor Gajah , Masjid Tanah, and Jasin. Adam Adli, who is also the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, stated that the priority is to ensure a robust election machinery ready to support any candidate chosen for the election. Commenting on cooperation talks between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), Adam Adli revealed that informal discussions had taken place, but formal negotiations were yet to occur. He stressed the importance of inter-party communication not only for discussing potential cooperation but also for ensuring a healthier election contest, free from harsh and dirty politics. PH and BN have expressed willingness to hold discussions, with PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari reaching out to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof to arrange a suitable time for a meeting. Adam Adli also mentioned that PH is prepared for the Melaka state election and is considering the possibility of participating independently if negotiations with BN do not result in an agreement.
