Kuala lumpur: The Melaka government has rolled out more than 200 initiatives designed to enhance integrity, transparency, and good governance, thereby solidifying its dedication to fostering public confidence and drawing in investments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh emphasized that these initiatives have effectively transformed the state's commitment to integrity into tangible actions. This dedication has led to Melaka being acknowledged as the second best-performing state in the Public Service Corruption Level Study conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

'Here in Melaka, we firmly believe that good governance begins with integrity. It is not merely a principle that we advocate, but a value that guides the way we govern, serve our people and build confidence among investors, businesses, and the international community,' Ab Rauf stated. He made these remarks during his welcoming address at the dinner for the 22nd ASEAN-PAC Secretariat Meeting.

Also present at the event were MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad. Ab Rauf highlighted that the recognition Melaka received reflects the state's continuous efforts to enhance governance, improve public service delivery, and establish a transparent and accountable government.

Among the significant measures introduced is the Melaka Anti-Corruption Plan 2022-2026. This plan aims to identify corruption risks, fortify preventive measures, and bolster integrity throughout the state administration. Additionally, the state has enhanced transparency in public procurement through the Melaka Online Tender System (STOM), a centralized digital platform for handling tender and quotation notices, company registration, document purchases, and the publication of procurement information.

Ab Rauf reiterated the state's commitment to continue implementing robust policies, improving governance, and ensuring integrity is at the forefront of every decision made in Melaka. 'This is in line with Malaysia's aspiration of becoming one of the world's top 25 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index by 2030,' he added.
