Melaka: The Melaka Health Department has issued 36 violation notices, including 15 fines totaling RM6,960, for offences committed by hotels and ice factories in the state between February 17 and yesterday. The infractions were identified during inspections carried out under the Food Regulations 1985 and Section 32B of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Health, Human Resources, and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem disclosed that inspections were conducted at 55 food premises, which included hotels and ice factories, during this period. Out of these, only 49 premises managed to achieve a hygiene rating of over 75 percent. Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem shared these details with reporters at the Peringgit Ramadan Bazaar, following the launch of the ‘Perhati dan Pilih Ramadan Bazaar Campaign,’ which was also attended by his deputy, Siti Faizah Abdul Azis.
The enforcement actions underscore the department’s commitment to ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, particularly in establishments engaged in food-related services. The ongoing campaign aims to raise awareness and encourage better hygiene practices across various food premises in Melaka.
