Johor Bahru: The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) will permit only 20 percent of its 496 personnel to take leave during this year’s Aidilfitri celebrations. The decision aims to ensure that the state’s fire stations are adequately staffed to perform duties and operations effectively.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department’s director, Mohd Pisar Aziz, emphasized the importance of this measure in maintaining smooth operations and the ability to deploy personnel for rescue operations in the event of emergencies. He highlighted that the department is prepared to handle various emergencies, including fires, accidents, floods, and drowning incidents.
Speaking to reporters after the Melaka JBPM Ihya Ramadan Programme at Jasin Bestari Station, Mohd Pisar assured that logistical readiness would be maintained in optimal condition to be mobilized when necessary. The event was graced by the presence of Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Furthermore, Mohd Pisar mentioned that the department had distributed Ramadan Aid Baskets to 40 recipients, including underprivileged families and orphans in the Jasin parliamentary constituency, as part of the Ihya Ramadan Programme. Contributions to the Melaka Fire and Rescue Welfare Fund made this aid distribution possible, supporting those in need through donations from various parties.
