Melaka: The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department has issued 27 notices for fire safety violations following 18 inspections under the Fire Hazard Elimination (MBK) programme in the first two months of this year. In 2024, 360 notices were issued after 434 inspections due to non-compliance with fire safety regulations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the department’s state director Mohd Pisar Aziz urged property owners to take fire safety regulations seriously, ensure their buildings meet legal standards, and regularly test fire prevention systems, especially in high-traffic areas. ‘Fire safety is a shared responsibility and it cannot be taken lightly,’ he told reporters at the launch of the Aidilfitri Fire Safety Campaign and the 2025 Festive Season Preparedness Operation.
Mohd Pisar also emphasised the importance of keeping safety routes clear to prevent people from being trapped during a fire. From March 21 to April 8, 297 fire personnel will be on duty daily, while 22 area patrols will be carried out as part of the operation. This initiative aims to prepare property owners and the public for emergencies and reduce risks during the busy holiday season.
