Melaka Extends Closure of Schools Due to Unhealthy Air Quality

Melaka:The temporary closure of all educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Melaka will continue tomorrow as a precautionary measure due to unhealthy air quality.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Melaka State Education Department (JPN) announced that home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) will be implemented during the closure period in line with MOE guidelines. Teachers and members of the implementing group (AKP) are permitted to work from home.

Despite the closure, the Special School Admission Assessment (PKSK) and the Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) examination will proceed as scheduled. Additional details and instructions about the assessment and examination are available on the official Melaka JPN Facebook page.

The JPN has advised all educational institutions under its supervision to monitor Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in their districts through the Department of Environment's Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal. Institutions are also encouraged to comply with recommendations from the Health Ministry as necessary.

This measure is deemed essential to protect the health, safety, and well-being of students and educational institution personnel.
