Melaka: Melaka continues to turn Malaysia’s national vision of a data-driven economy into reality through a series of strategic digital initiatives designed to strengthen policy-making, drive innovation and ensure development truly benefits the people. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said under this vision, data in Melaka is not merely collected but transformed into actionable insights that help the state government craft smarter policies for sustainable growth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Melaka state government has embarked on several strategic initiatives to strengthen the state’s digital ecosystem. These initiatives include the Melaka Big Data Development Plan 2035, the Smart Melaka Blueprint 2035, and the Melaka Digital Command Centre (MD2C). These efforts reflect Melaka’s strong commitment to leveraging data for sustainable development, aligning local innovation with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ab Rauf Yusoh made these remarks at the ASEAN-Malaysia Statistics Week 2025 Networking Dinner, held in conjunction with the 15th Session of the ASEAN Community Statistical System (ACSS15) Committee.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin. Ab Rauf also highlighted the Kampung Digital project, which made Melaka the first state in Malaysia to assign formal quick response (QR) coded addresses to 618 traditional villages across the state. This initiative allows for the collection and organisation of accurate data at the village level, providing essential insights for planning, emergency response, and delivery of public services.

Ab Rauf added that Melaka remains committed to being part of ASEAN’s collective journey towards a data-driven and resilient future, expressing readiness to share their experiences and innovations for the benefit of the region.
