Melaka: The state government has allocated RM200,000 for over 1,000 Indian families across all parliamentary constituencies in Melaka, to bring greater joy for this year’s Deepavali celebrations. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh explained that the contribution is a symbol of unity and respect for the community, particularly for those in the B40 income bracket who are celebrating the Festival of Lights.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Chief Minister’s Office has also distributed more than 400 food kits to Indian community welfare associations throughout the state to provide essential supplies to those in need during the festive period. “On Oct 10, a total of 100 students from 21 Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil were also presented with new clothing. This evening, 30 anak Melaka children from B40 families in the Indian community have received clothing to help them celebrate a more joyous Deepavali,” he told reporters here last night.
