Melaka: The Melaka government has allocated RM168.8 million in financial aid for the benefit of more than 34,000 recipients in the state this year, compared to RM164 million for over 30,000 people in 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof stated that the increased welfare allocation demonstrates the state government's commitment to the people, aligning with its slogan 'Melaka Sayang Rakyat'. "For me, the people's welfare is not merely a slogan on a banner, but a trust that must reach the doorstep of every family," he emphasized, highlighting the state government's focus on supporting the elderly, B40 families, single mothers, and those in need to ensure no one feels marginalized.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during the aid presentation ceremony held in conjunction with this year's Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency's Chinese New Year celebration, where 175 recipients were involved.
Additionally, Ab Rauf announced that RM200,000 has been allocated for 1,000 recipients among the Chinese community in Melaka ahead of the celebration this year. The aid will be distributed in stages across various parliamentary constituencies, starting with Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah, followed by Tangga Batu on February 10, Hang Tuah Jaya on February 11, Kota Melaka on February 12, and Jasin on February 15.
