Media Urged to Promote Patriotism by Distributing Jalur Gemilang: Sarawak

Sarawak: Media organisations are being encouraged to distribute Jalur Gemilang to the public as part of efforts to enhance the spirit of independence and support the One House One Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign. Sarawak Information Department (JAPEN) director Sabri Said emphasized that, in addition to producing news and content promoting patriotism, media outlets could play a more active role in strengthening national identity by engaging directly with the community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabri Said stated, "This is one way to encourage the public to be more aware of the importance of flying the Jalur Gemilang. It adds greater meaning and value to the 1R1JG campaign." He highlighted that well-known media organisations such as Bernama, Suara Sarawak, and TVS could distribute Malaysian flags to the public, leveraging their capabilities to promote national pride. Sabri made these remarks during the Singgah Media programme at the Sarawak Bernama office, part of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

Sabri further noted that increased media participation could help spread the message of patriotism more widely throughout the community. Earlier, the Sarawak JAPEN delegation, led by Sabri, visited the offices of TV Alhijrah, Astro Awani Borneo, Suara Sarawak, and Sarawak Tribune. These visits were part of a strategic collaboration with media organisations to support the 1R1JG campaign, which was launched on July 19.

Since the campaign's launch, Sarawak JAPEN has intensified its activities through its 33 district offices across the state and has utilized social media platforms to broaden its reach and impact.
