Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been instructed to liaise with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to obtain detailed information on the detention of six teenagers suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasized the importance of this move to identify any potential issues linked to specific applications, allowing for appropriate action to be taken. This includes securing the cooperation of relevant platform service providers.
Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil expressed concern over the matter, noting that early investigations suggest some of the teenagers were influenced by extremist movements through games such as Roblox and via content on social media or streaming platforms. He stated his intention to have MCMC coordinate with Bukit Aman to gather detailed information on possible measures for assistance.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail reported that the six male suspects, aged between 16 and 21, were apprehended by the Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division (E8) in the Klang Valley, Kedah, Terengganu, and Johor on February 14 and 15.
