MCMC Extends Support to Social Media Users Facing Account Issues: Fahmi

Kuala Lumpur: The Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is committed to assisting individuals and organizations dealing with social media account issues. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasized MCMC’s dedication to supporting all users, regardless of their status, by engaging directly with social media platforms on their behalf.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi mentioned that both MCMC and he himself are frequently approached by individuals or organizations whose accounts have been affected. Fahmi shared these insights while speaking to reporters at the Gabungan Kelab Media Malaysia (GKMM) 2025 Dinner, which was held in conjunction with the National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2025 celebration. The event was attended by notable personalities, including Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, who also serves as the HAWANA 2025 Project Director, and other senior management from Bernama.

Fahmi also addressed the recent issue involving Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir’s Facebook account. He confirmed that Meta Platforms Inc (Meta) had clarified that the account was not hacked and that there were no underlying motives. Meta is currently assisting in restoring the posts that were lost.

Local media had previously reported that the deputy minister’s Facebook page had been sabotaged, leading to the disappearance of posts dating back to the end of 2022. Akmal Nasrullah himself noticed the disappearance of all his Facebook posts from that period.
